Southampton City Council
Southampton has been identified as one of five cities mandated by Government to implement a mandatory Clean Air Zone (CAZ) no later than 2020.
This will introduce penalty charges for the most polluting HGV’s, buses, coaches and taxis. The intention of the CAZ is to bring pollution down to acceptable levels.
To improve air quality in Southampton the City Council will be establishing our Clean Air Zone during 2017 on a non-charging basis, with a focus on promoting the uptake of sustainable travel and low emission technology.
The City Council is committed to working with businesses and organisations to promote the uptake of low emission vehicles and to change travel behaviours.
